Independent enough to challenge. Experienced enough to deliver.

I bring more than two decades of governance and executive leadership across telecommunications, professional regulation, education, Crown entities and charitable organisations.
The consistent thread has been helping organisations make better decisions, improve performance and deliver complex change. My experience spans board leadership, substantial operational accountability, organisational and sector strategy, digital transformation, stakeholder confidence and international growth.
Governance
I bring independent chair and board experience across telecommunications, professional regulation, education, Crown entity and charitable settings.
My contribution sits where governance and delivery meet. I help boards clarify the real decision, test the evidence and assumptions behind it, manage competing perspectives and connect strategy with risk, investment, organisational capability and performance.
As an independent chair, trustee and director, I have led deliberations through structural uncertainty, overseen investment and audit, supported fair and transparent decision-making and maintained focus on outcomes that can be implemented. My executive experience also gives me a practical understanding of what board direction requires from the organisation expected to deliver it.
Executive Leadership
I have led substantial operations, major investment and organisation-wide change in nationally significant, public-facing organisations.
At the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand, I led national regulatory operations, professional standards, policy implementation and service transformation, with responsibility for more than 65 people and approximately $15 million in annual expenditure. I regularly acted as Chief Executive and worked closely with the governing Council on performance, risk, cybersecurity and statutory accountability.
Earlier, I led a $20 million operating division with responsibility for financial performance, workforce leadership, service quality and customer outcomes. That experience keeps my leadership grounded in the realities of organisational capacity, competing priorities and accountable delivery
Strategy, Transformation, Digital & AI
I turn evidence into strategic choices and connect those choices with the investment, capability and leadership required to deliver measurable change.
At Education New Zealand, I developed the strategic case for more than $1 million of investment in digital student recruitment and helped govern an award-winning, multilingual ecosystem that moved recruitment towards scalable, data-led global acquisition.
More recently, I was executive sponsor for a further $1 million digital investment encompassing a new website and My Rawa, a connected ecosystem supporting more than 120,000 professionals. More than 50,000 people used the platform within months of launch, while Contact Centre calls reduced by approximately 15% and average waiting times improved by 35%. The work received national recognition and was recognised at the 2026 Australian Good Design Awards through MakerTech’s “From Compliance to Confidence” entry.
I also led an AI-enabled analysis of hundreds of disciplinary tribunal decisions to understand where and how harm arises. The work turned unstructured historical decisions into structured evidence, revealed patterns across cases and informed practical guidance for teachers and principals on recognising risk, maintaining professional boundaries and acting earlier to protect learners.
A further AI-assisted service was designed to identify incomplete documentation before submission while retaining formal assessment and decision-making with people.
My approach is practical and responsible: start with a meaningful problem, use technology to reveal better evidence, keep judgement and accountability human, and turn insight into action.
Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy
I use stakeholder engagement to improve decisions, build legitimacy and create the shared ownership required for action.
In a national professional regulator, I designed and led a stakeholder engagement strategy that contributed to a 47% increase in positive sentiment and a 35% increase in trust within 12 months.
I also led the development and execution of Teaching Shapes What Matters Most, a national advocacy campaign challenging outdated stereotypes and demonstrating the expertise, intention and lasting impact of teachers. Built around research, expert insight and real professional stories, the campaign sought to move the public conversation from appreciation of teachers towards a deeper understanding of teaching as highly skilled professional practice.
Earlier, at Education New Zealand, I designed and led the engagement process for seven sector-based strategic roadmaps for international education growth. The process brought a fragmented and competitive industry together to define a shared destination and make choices about priority markets, products, capability, resources and partnerships.
My approach goes beyond consultation. I create engagement that surfaces evidence, makes competing interests visible, strengthens the quality of decisions and gives people a meaningful role in shaping what happens next.
